Nathan Ashley
Nathan Ashley is a former semi-professional classical musician who has performed at prestigious concert venues across Europe including the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Sibeliustalo (Sibelius Hall) in Finland. Beginning his musical journey at the age of four as a singer, recorder, and flute player.
Nathan currently works at DRD Partnership leading the Public Affairs team and has over twelve years’ experience as a public policy and communications expert. Previously, he was the Head of Strategic Policy at Voi Technology, where he led safety, sustainability, and social impact initiatives across eleven countries.
Nathan’s commitment to public service includes roles advising Mayor Sadiq Khan and working with Transport for London (TfL), where he contributed to TfL’s cultural strategy. He has also served as an Advisor on the Culture and Creative Industries Mayoral Group and was a Trustee for the Children’s International Voices of Enfield, a choir in which he once sang.
He holds a Master’s of Research in Business Management from Birkbeck, University of London, and a degree in History and Politics from the University of Kent. Nathan has also actively contributed to policy development as Chair of a local Fabian Society.
In addition to his public policy work, Nathan remains passionate about music, including film composition, drawing inspiration from his family’s history in reggae and dub music. He has played with artists like Binker Goulding and Nia Ekanem, and he’s currently writing a book on dub and reggae music. Nathan's familial connections to music are notable, which includes Judy Mowatt from The I-Threes of Bob Marley and the Wailers, and his father’s success as a Lovers Rock artist.
