In 2019 the award winning Nigerian-Romanian pianist Rebeca Omordia launched in partnership with the Institute of Art and Music the first ever African Concert Series at the October Gallery in London, described by the BBC as “African Art Music makes a comeback”.
The programme of the series reflects the depth and diversity of African art music, the richly diverse genre of music that originated in Ghana and Nigeria, which forms a bridge between Western classical music and traditional African music.’
In this concert, the Chineke! Chamber Ensemble will explore the music and composition of the champion fencer/classical composer/virtuoso violinist/conductor of the leading symphony orchestra in Paris Joseph Boulogne (Chevalier de Saint-Georges) String Quartet No 3 in G minor and Florence B Price String Quartet in G minor
