Chineke! Chamber Ensemble return to the stage for their first live performance in 6 months since the pandemic lockdown.
Snape Maltings hosts the Chineke! Chamber Ensemble for a programme of Florence B. Price folk pieces, together with Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Quintet. There will be an afternoon performance at 2pm, followed by a 7pm performance. I'm thrilled that Chineke! will be performing live for the first time in six months. Throughout lockdown we have been collaborating remotely and producing online content, but nothing compares to the feeling of being back on stage with fellow musicians and to a living, breathing audience!
I'm confident that the safety measures put in place by Snape Maltings will keep our audiences, performers and tech teams safe so that we can focus on experiencing the music. It is such a special venue for us - we gave our first concert in the Maltings the night before our historic debut at the BBC Proms in 2017.
Chineke! Chamber Ensemble will be playing a concert favourite - Schubert’s 'Trout' Quintet - and wonderful folk pieces adapted by Florence B. Price, an outstanding African-American composer whose work is steadily gaining the recognition it deserves.
