Race Equality Week

Monday 1 February 2021 marks the start of Race Equality Week - seven days in which organisations and individuals make their pledge to work towards racial equality in the workplace.

Chineke! has championed the cause of Black and ethnically diverse musicians from its inception, and we are proud to add our voice to the many others who are committing to meaningful action to bring about true equality.

We celebrate Black and ethnically diverse excellence in classical music, from the musician to the composer, on the radio and in the curriculum. We are governed by a majority Black board of trustees and run by an ethnically diverse management team.

For us, racial equality is the foundation stone to building a just society, where everyone has the chance to contribute and apply their talent to the best of their ability, regardless of their cultural background or physical appearance.
